Photo From: TJ Parmele - Album: Rifles--Classic Military

Description: This has always been an oddball rifle in my collection. This rifle looks like it's been refurbished as the wood and the metal are in great shape! I think the stock is Beech, and all the metal has been re-parkerized. Uploaded: 2/26/2008 by TJ Parmele

We surely discussed this ten years ago, but this rifle was almost definitely NOT refinished, but rather a post-war rifle built by the French in the early 1950s when it had already been surpassed as a first line rifle, but was still being built due to demand for rifles, primarily in Vietnam. Many ended up never being issued, remained new-in-the-wrap, and were imported to the US in just that condition, in the early 1990s.
